Someone Worth Dreaming On
space
You let the prose fall right off the rose petals
Boiling hot tea but too afraid to burn your hands on the kettle
You kissed my cheek only to let it bruise
You swear it was all innocent
But why am I still here feeling used
I loved you like a liar loves a poker face
Americana attitude
A shattered vase you swore to never break
You whisper sweet nothings to my ear
But never to my face
Not pretty enough,
I can’t breathe in this dress of pink lace
Only a spark, never a fire to light this place
But lilacs still linger in picture frames
Even if its only a stem I can trace
I gave you my wistful nights
For you to give me a text
You don’t want my heart,
But you won’t give it back
I waited on empty hopes for so long
Now I have to find someone
Worth dreaming on.
