Visual Art

Iranian Woman by Nadine McMahon

Nadine McMahon, a sophomore student of Scarsdale High School, drew this piece after becoming interested in the recent protests in Iran for women’s rights. Nadine has always been interested in drawing symbolic art and when it came to this topic she felt inspired. The piece was meant to symbolize women’s struggles against traditionalism and oppression, with the removal of the hijab representing freedom over their own body.
